Five days later, UVA went to Louisville as the underdog. The Cardinals had won four in a row and had beaten Virginia on a last-second shot the year before. But in one of its best all-around performances of the season, UVA beat then-No. 16 Louisville on its home court in convincing fashion, win- ning 63-47. Virginia held Louisville to 33 percent shooting, and Cardinals leading scorers Da- mion Lee and Trey Lewis combined for just 10 points. On Feb. 27, ESPN's "College GameDay" returned to Charlottesville for Virginia's game with North Carolina. When GameDay visited the year before for the Duke game, UVA had blown a late lead. This time around, though, Virginia outplayed the eventual ACC champion Tar Heels down the stretch and won the game, 79-74. Brogdon thoroughly outplayed UNC star Brice Johnson, cementing his candidacy for ACC Player of the Year. The Tar Heels shot 49 percent, but committed 13 turnovers and were just 7 of 13 from the free throw line, which included a couple front ends of one- and-ones down the stretch. "The biggest factor in the game to me was that they played with a high level of intensity on both offense and defense," UNC head coach Roy Williams said. "I think they were the actors, and we were the reactors all night." With the likes of Sampson, Barry Parkhill and Joe Harris in attendance, the arena was rocking from the opening whistle. "I have to give the crowd an assist," Ben- nett said. "The atmosphere was unbelievable. It revved us up and got us going." JPJ was just as electric for Virginia's Se- nior Night game against Louisville a week later. Mike Tobey erupted for 15 points and a career-high 20 rebounds in a 68-46 win. To- ward the end of the game, when Tobey was at the free throw line, fans chanted his name. "That was real emotional for me," Tobey said. "My career here has had a lot of ups and downs, and being able to be there one last time and have the crowd chant my name Redshirt fourth-year forward Anthony Gill helped UVA's senior class rack up a 89 wins the past three years, which snapped the previous school record of 88 set from 1981-83.
