BY BRAD FRANKLIN A FTER BEING HIRED BY UVA in December to be the school's next football coach, Bronco Mendenhall had a tough task: Finish up his tenure at BYU and hit the ground running in Charlottesville, where Mike London's coaching staff had already received more than 20 commitments. Ultimately, Mendenhall and his new coaching staff were able to add 24 recruits, including four early enrollees. Rivals.com ranked the class as the 11th best in the ACC and No. 62 nationally. "I was impressed by what Coach London had done with the quality of people," Men- denhall said on National Signing Day. "I'm really comfortable with where we ended up. "I would describe this class as a great starting point with good people and capabil- ity to fit into the needs of the program under the circumstances," he added. The four players that enrolled early at UVA are 6-4, 230-pound tight end Christian Baumgardner from Longport (N.J.) Ocean City; 6-0, 173-pound kicker Holland Cor- bett from Fork Union (Va.) Military Acad- emy; 6-4, 227-pound outside linebacker Matt Terrell of Lynchburg (Va.) Liberty Christian; and 5-10, 218-pound running back Tre Harbison of Shelby (N.C.) Crest.
