She says that Michigan has made her appreciate and understand the impor- tance of education even more and she continues to grow as a student. "Being a student-athlete at Michigan has really pushed me in the classroom," she said. "I'm surrounded by such smart people and such great professors that it's gotten the best out of me." While at Michigan, Metzger has been named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, which means she has maintained a 3.7 GPA or above for two consecutive semes- ters. She also was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2015 and a two-time U-M Ath- letic Academic Achievement award winner in 2014-15. She's obviously getting it done in the classroom, but she was also named a team captain this season and has started all 12 games she's played in. After her time at Michigan is up, Metzger plans to work in a hospital for a year and would also like to work in a health clinic in an underserved area.
