Regardless, Connor was very diplo‑
matic in his reaction.
"I thought it was a cool ceremony.
They were two great players, and Jimmy
Vesey was very deserving," said Connor,
who said he wasn't stunned he lost. "I
don't think so. They were both really
deserving. Congrats to them."
On April 11, U‑M announced that Con‑
nor — who was named National Rookie
of the Year by the American Hockey
Coaches Association — signed an entry‑
level contract with the NHL's Winnipeg
Jets.
"Playing at Michigan was the most
fun year of hockey in my life, and I think
that I really benefited from all of the
coaching here," Connor said in a state‑
ment released by Michigan. "I want to
think everyone that works hard in the
program behind the scenes as well. It
was truly a dream come true to play at
Michigan and an experience I'll never
forget."
