Two of them were directly involved in the Blue team's first score, hinting at a possible extra wrinkle down the road. O'Korn drove the Blue team 70 yards in 15 plays for the game-opening score. They made it to the Maize 11 and looked to be stonewalled, until O'Korn fired to his right to Morris, who had lined up at wide receiver. Morris caught the ball, wheeled to his left, and found fifth-year senior running back Drake Johnson wide open in the end zone for a touchdown pass. The Maize, initially quarterbacked by Speight, then drove 65 yards in eight plays for the game-tying touch- down. Redshirt junior running back Ty Isaac (who paced all rushers with 78 yards on 10 carries) burst free for 29 yards to set up the TD. Speight then found senior tight end Jake Butt all alone for a 13-yard touch- down to knot the score. The Maize crew broke ahead early in the third of the four eight-minute quarters, driving 70 yards in 11 plays and scoring on a one-yard plunge by Speight. It stayed 14-7 until the final, crowd-stirring drive, which included Redshirt sophomore quarterback Wilton Speight led the Maize team to a 14-13 victory, com- pleting five of six passes for 46 yards and a score, and running for another touchdown.
