in there, and really all of us went in there, and just destroyed them. But he had that one-on-one matchup and took advantage of it." Chesson showed potential with 15 catches in his redshirt freshman year, but he managed just 14 the follow- ing season with no touchdowns. His great speed only resulted in a long grab of 28 yards through his first two years, and he only had seven catches with a long of 14 through the first four games of last season. From then on, he became U-M's big-play guy. In the fifth game of the year, he caught four passes in a win over Maryland and scored from 66 yards out on an end around. For Perry and fellow receivers Mau- rice Ways, Drake Harris and other young guys still waiting their turn, Chesson has become the guy to emu- late. He was a completely different receiver — it's not hyperbole to say he looked elite — in the last four games of the season. He finished with 10 catches for 207 yards and four scores against Indiana, had eight for 111 and a touchdown in a loss to Ohio State, and then torched the Gators in the finale. His lowest output during that span came against Penn State, when he posted four catches for 69 yards and a 20-yard rush. In the bowl, he erased the one knock on him — not being able to track the Teammates try to emulate redshirt senior Jehu Chesson, who exploded last year with 50 catches for 764 yards and nine scores while rushing for an additional 155 yards and two touchdowns.
