He's got great hands, and he's tough as nails as a runner — he's not an easy tackle. He's an elite athlete and has good separation speed. Other Sports: Competed in track each of his first three years of high school, specializing in the 300-meter hurdles … Reigning Class 4 Missouri state champion in the event, clocking a time of 37.44 seconds at the 2011 outdoor state meet … Time ranked 31st nationally … Also the reigning champion as part of the 4x200-me- ter relay team … Did not qualify for the 300-meter hurdle finals in 2010 and placed fifth in the relay event … Played basketball as a freshman, soph- omore and junior. Why Chesson Chose Michigan: "I visited for the Ohio State game, and what I saw were the people who would be there every day, how the coaching staff handles their players — Coach [Brady] Hoke does an amazing job with his guys. Him and Coach [Pat] Fitzgerald from Northwestern were the two coaches that really stood out to me. His upside is not unlike a lot of high school players that didn't grow up on football. He hasn't been playing it since he was 5 or 6, so he's only at the beginning stages of understand- ing and learning the game.
