(From top left, clockwise) The trophy from Michigan's 1989 national championship is now displayed in the atrium area of the Player Development Center, along with a basketball signed by members of that title team. Michigan's team room serves as a venue for film watching of opponents, self-scouting, and meetings to discuss issues pertaining to the Wolverines' plan of attack. This year, it also served as the inner sanctum where U-M players and coaches witnessed a Big Ten championship unfold. The Wolverines' new weight room serves both the men's and women's teams. It fea- tures a cardio room that can be closed off from the more open-area weights, and a separate space for hot and cold tubs, in addition to a unit equipped with an under- water treadmill. The largest area of the PDC features two full- sized, side-by-side practice courts, equipped with a host of baskets, cameras in the ceil- ing to record the action, a video monitor to immediately review plays, and a curtain that can divide the practice area in two when necessary. No longer will the Wolverines be scrambling for a practice venue when the court in Crisler Arena is in use. PHOTOS BY PER KJELDSEN APRIL 2012 THE WOLVERINE 57
