FOOTBALL RECRUITING and who might end up visiting over the course of the summer and into the fall for official visits. Three of the Wolverines' top targets were on hand and could all end up playing in the same stadium again in college. One of the biggest targets in at- tendance was Detroit Cass Tech five- star wide receiver Donovan Peoples- Jones. The 6-1, 188-pounder actually tweaked his hamstring during the early portion of the Rivals Challenge and was forced to watch the seven- on-seven session from the sidelines. Even though his performance was cut short, he was still able to talk about his recruitment. The No. 2 wide receiver and No. 11 overall player in the country keeps things close to the vest, but likes Michigan a lot. He showed up sport- ing a Florida backpack, but claimed it meant nothing. The Detroit native has been high on warm-weather schools like UF and USC, but U-M has done very well with him so far. Peoples-Jones was offensive target No. 1 for Michigan at the event, but Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four- star center Cesar Ruiz was a close sec- ond. His name will never show up in lights like a wide receiver's will, but as the nation's top center and No. 119 overall player he's going to be an in- tegral piece to someone's offensive line haul. The 6-3, 313-pounder tries to be coy when it comes to talking recruiting, but players and friends around him at the event said Michigan is out front. As a New Jersey native and former teammate of Michigan signees Brad Hawkins and Ron Johnson, Ruiz has a clear connection to Ann Arbor. Another New Jersey product is one of Michigan's biggest targets on de- fense. Paramus (N.J.) Catholic four- star outside linebacker Drew Singleton could be the next Paladin to come to Ann Arbor, but it's definitely not a sure thing. The 6-2, 218-pounder is ex- tremely high on Clemson and may be leaning toward the Tigers right now, but a successful 2016 season could pull him back toward Michigan. Singleton is ranked the No. 2 out- side linebacker and No. 39 overall re- cruit in the land, and Jim Harbaugh's staff would love to continue the New Jersey to Ann Arbor movement with him.
