BASKETBALL RECRUITING BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan has added two players to the 2017 class in Kentucky trans- fer and Chicago native Charles Mat- thews (6-6, Rivals.com's No. 48 player in the 2015 class) and verbal com- mitment Jordan Poole (6-3, No. 102 player in the 2016 class), who recently announced he would transfer from Milwaukee King to La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere School. Head coach John Beilein and his staff will look for at least five players be- tween the 2017 and 2018 classes. Here is who they've offered to date, the four newest ones listed first: KRIS WILKES, SF, CLASS OF 2017 Indianapolis North Central 6-7 • 185 Rivals.com's No. 17 senior nationally Wilkes picked up a Michigan offer on a June 12 visit and now holds offers from Georgetown, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan State, Xavier and many others. "It was great," Wilkes said of the Michigan trip. "I had a good time." Wilkes was one of Rivals.com's top 13 prospects at the Under Armour AAU Session III in Garden Grove, Calif., at the beginning of June after averaging 20.7 points during the first two sessions, and he continues to im- prove. He plans to pare his list at the end of summer. "First, I'll cut it to whatever schools have offered me and keep it there. Then I'll keep going down from there," he said. "I think I'll visit UCLA for sure and maybe Maryland, too. I want to use my official visits to see the schools that are a longer distance from home." It wouldn't be a surprise to see him back on the Michigan campus for a football game either. The U-M offer moved the Wolverines up on his list. "They're definitely up there after visiting them," Wilkes said. "… The last three weeks [of June] I talked to Michigan, Washington and Ohio State ... They are my last three offers, and schools I visited or talked to heavily."   BASKETBALL RECRUITING Michigan Extends Several New Offers Kris Wilkes was one of Rivals.com's top 13 prospects at the Under Armour AAU Session III in Garden Grove, Calif., at the beginning of June.
