PREP PROFILES North Carolina Quarterback Gets 'Shocking' Michigan Offer Charlotte (N.C.) William Amos Hough quarterback Jackson Gibbs strolled into Ann Arbor without a Di‑ vision I offer, but left with one from the Wolverines. After competing at a Michigan camp on campus June 21, Gibbs impressed the staff enough to receive the ten‑ der. " C o a c h [ J i m ] Harbaugh is the man!" Gibbs ex‑ c l a i m e d w h e n asked about the offer. "I knew he liked me and I had a guess, but I was still in shock when he told me. "I met with him and Coach [Jedd] Fisch for a long time and they said they really liked me and they know I can play on this level." Gibbs also can see himself wear‑ ing the winged helmet and said he would be ready to compete. "I absolutely can see myself play‑ ing for them," said Gibbs, who also took part in Michigan's satellite camp in Baltimore in early June. "I'm just a competitor — that's what I do and what I've always had to do." It looks like other schools are start‑ ing to take notice as well. "Ole Miss recently contacted me, so I think I will be taking a visit there," he said. "North Carolina is another school I might be visiting." Jackson is the grandson of Wash‑ ington Redskins legendary head coach Joe Gibbs, who also went on to become one of the most successful NASCAR owners ever after his Hall of Fame NFL coaching career. The younger Gibbs' football IQ is def‑ initely at a high level, but at 6‑1 and 180 pounds he doesn't have ideal size for a signal‑caller and is currently un‑ rated by recruit‑ ing services. Harbaugh is usually takes just one signal‑caller per class, but both he and quarterback commit Dylan McCaffrey are both comfortable with the offer to Gibbs. "I respect the heck out of McCaf‑ frey," Gibbs said. "Coach Harbaugh just said that he liked me and that he told McCaffrey what he was go‑ ing to do to make sure everyone was on the same page. Coach Har‑ baugh was all good with the situ‑ ation." After an injury hindered him during his junior season at William Amos Hough, he's hoping to get some redemption in his senior year. Gibbs finished the 2015 campaign with 1,748 passing yards, 13 touch‑ downs and 10 interceptions. — Brandon Justice William Amos Hough H.S. Charlotte, N.C.
