thrower Meagan Malloy out of Green- ville, R.I., who was the No. 6 hammer thrower in the nation and won the individual state title in the hammer throw last spring (2015), helping lead her squad to the team championship; and distance runner Madeline Trev- isan from nearby Farmington, Mich., who was crowned the 2015 Miss Cross Country for Michigan. "Our overall philosophy is balance," Henry said. "That is exactly what this group of student-athletes brings to our team. We want to be a three- tiered attack with the ability to score in distance running, throwing events, as well as sprints and jumps, and this class helps us do just that. "We are restoring some of the bal- ance we have missed in recent sea- sons, and we are excited about what this group has to offer." 3. Volleyball — Michigan's seven- member incoming freshman class has been ranked as the 14th-best group in the country by PrepVolleyball.com. Michigan's incoming rookies include Ellie Brooks, Tiffany Clark, Savannah Guy, Kyleigh Hamacher, Katerina Ro- cafort, MacKenzi Welsh and Sydney Wetterstrom. "The 2016 class is not only one of the biggest classes Michigan has ever had, it also could be one of the stron- gest," the website stated on National Signing Day. "Anchored by two Pre- pVolleyball.com Top-100 Senior Aces in Clark and Welsh, this class is deep in talent and could make an early im- pact on the continued success of the Wolverine program. "Welsh, Senior Ace No. 40, brings a great combination of size, physicality and all-around skills to the table, as well as Sports Performance training, which could allow her to be an elite collegiate-level setter in the Big Ten Conference. "Clark, Senior Ace No. 24 and re- puted to be the best libero the state of Illinois has ever produced, has been a huge part of championship programs, both at the club and high school level. She has a nonstop motor and knows only winning. "Rosen welcomes a third Top-100 Se- nior Ace in Wetterstrom, who checks in at No. 32. A multi-sport standout in Colorado, Wetterstrom is an all-around athlete with great speed, explosion and agility. She will bring an elite athletic presence to the Michigan program and could be an asset on either pin." The site said Guy has "the size and ex- perience to impact in the middle," while Brooks "has great athleticism, which should help her transition effectively from the middle to a pin hitter position." They also mentioned that Hamacher is a competitive athlete who shined in multiple sports on the prep level and that Rocafort — the first player from Puerto Rico to play volleyball at Michi- gan — is a great all-around setter who will immediately add solid depth. "With such a diverse and athletic class, the Michigan Wolverines could be poised to make a few more runs deep into the NCAA Tournament soon," the website concluded. 4.
