It is by far the most exciting time of the year for our staff. We enjoy seeing large numbers of our donors in the office, at social events throughout the East Coast and at spring sports events. We launched the 2017 Annual Fund campaign in early February, with the Guide to Giving as our Febru- ary issue of the Cavalier Corner. This issue included a personalized pledge card and a Guide to Member Benefits. We have re- ceived feedback from some donors noting they had not realized this Cava- lier Corner issue served as the Annual Fund giving information. If you don't recall seeing the magazine or think you may have misplaced your pledge card, please let us know by calling our office at 800.626.8723 or sending an email to vafweb@virginia.edu. You can also access the Guide to Giving and/or make your pledge by visiting our website at http://www. VirginiaAthleticsFoundation.com. Our staff has been busy working with donors to renew their Annual Fund commitments for 2017 and season football tickets. Additionally, we are hard at work on the Davenport Field Expansion for baseball and the new Vir- ginia Golf Facility. More information on these projects is available on our website. These are two exciting projects for our athletics program and will provide outstanding facilities for our student-athletes and coaches. Addition- ally, the baseball project will greatly enhance the fan experience with new seating down the right field line, an expanded concourse and an impressive entrance plaza. There is still a great deal of fundraising left to do on both projects and we look forward to a successful completion. The fundraising has been completed for the renovation of the men's basketball locker room and team areas in John Paul Jones Arena. One of the athletics department's priorities is to maintain the momentum that head coach Tony Bennett has built and this was an important component. It is hard to believe these areas in JPJ are over 10 years old already and we are grateful that we were able to garner the support to complete this fundraising. The renovation will begin this month and be completed prior to the start of the next academic year. The more our staff has an opportunity to talk with donors about their affin- ity for Virginia athletics, the more I am reminded how lucky we are to have such generous support from our donor base. Each year the generosity from over 9,000 donors is tremendous. Our goals this year are extremely chal- lenging and we have yet to catch up on the scholarship expense increases that we have realized over the past several years. I am hopeful that we can surpass last year's record setting Annual Fund and continue to support all of the priorities in our All In For Excellence fundraising initiative. Thank you for all you do to support Virginia athletics and our student- athletes. Best regards, Dirk P. Katstra Executive Director Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/VirginiaAthleticsFoundation
