Said senior linebacker Michael Mauti, "We saw him make some pretty unbe- lievable catches in camp and through- out practices. He's just going to be a playmaker on offense. "The more he gets in there and gets experience, the better he's going to be, especially in this offense where we use tight ends a lot. He's going to be a guy that we look to in future situations with the ball. Look for more from him throughout the year. He's obviously very athletic and very talented." Aside from Allen Robinson, Carter has been one of McGloin's most reliable targets early this season. McGloin said that relationship is likely to improve as the season progresses. "He's only going to get better," he said. "He's still a young guy. He still has a lot to learn and experience to get. He's done a great job for us. "He's catching a lot of balls, he's running great routes and hopefully if he stays healthy, he can have a great year and a great future." Cole said the secret to Carter's early success is his soft-spoken nature and willingness to be coached. "He's good because he listens. If you tell him stuff, he's going to listen and he's going to work to do what you want him to do," he said. "He's had experi- ence doing different things and he adapts to whatever you teach him. "He was just such a pleasure to be around. If there were more kids like him, it would make our job so much easier."
