RUN GAME WOES CONTINUE Notre Dame averaged 324.8 rushing yards per game in the first nine games of the season, going for at least 317 yards in seven of those contests. Over the last three games, Notre Dame has averaged just 142.0 yards on the ground, and standout junior Josh Ad- ams has had just 195 yards and aver- aged only 3.6 yards per carry. Against Stanford, Adams had merely 49 yards on 20 carries, with a long run of seven yards — quite a drop off for a running back who had eight carries of at least 59 yards in the first eight games of the season. "I've got to do a better job of putting my team in a position for [long runs] to happen," Adams said after the loss. "I have to take advantage of the creases the offensive line has been giving me. "I have to break tackles, and I didn't do enough of that tonight. A lot of that I would put on myself.
