"Last year I did it all," he confirmed after his team made its way into the hotel, having already seen the Arc de Triomphe and other sites on the bus trip over. "This year it was so much work, I wanted to focus more on coaching the team. The guys did a great job. [Associate athletics director for football] Sean Magee really took the ball and ran with it. Many other staff members contributed on it. "They'll surprise me this year. I'm kind of like the guys … seeing what they generate is awesome, and I feel better more as a participant, not think- ing about everything that could go wrong." He wouldn't be disappointed. Like last year's trip, this one went off with- out a hitch and was a cultural experi- ence none of them will forget. Funded by Activision CEO (and Michigan alum) Bobby Kotick and fel- low alum Donald Graham, the 2018 excursion included more than just a sightseeing tour of the best of Paris. The Wolverines visited the Louvre mu- seum, of course, and climbed the Eiffel Tower on the last day — in between they visited the World War II beach at Normandy and the American Cem- etery, saw the Palace of Versailles and made the world their classroom, as BONJOUR BLUE Michigan's Trip To France, Its Second Overseas Excursion, Was Another Great Success BY CHRIS BALAS P ARIS — Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was all smiles when his team arrived at the Westin Hotel in Paris April 27. He was already happy enough knowing his junior transfer quar- terback, Shea Patterson, had been cleared by the NCAA for immediate eligibility the morning they left, and knowing how well last year's trip to Rome went, he had an idea that a seven-day trip to France should provide some outstanding teaching moments for his team.
