Left-handed pitcher Steven Haj- jar of North Andover, Mass., was tabbed by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 21st round with the 635th overall pick. Finally, junior quarterback Shea Patterson of the U-M football team was tabbed by the Texas Rangers with the 1,169th overall pick in the 39th round of the draft. Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News tweeted that the signal-caller signed a 2019 contract to play "after he completes his football eligibility at Michigan," meaning he will be on the field for the Wolverines in the fall. QUINN HUGHES IS MICHIGAN'S LONE SELECTION IN NHL DRAFT The Vancouver Canucks grabbed Michigan rising sophomore defense- man Quinn Hughes with the seventh overall pick in the NHL Draft June 22. With the selection, he became the 22nd first-rounder in program his- tory and the 10th to go in the top 10. "I'm very proud, and I've heard a lot of great things about Vancou- ver," he said. "They're a great hockey market, and I'm really excited. It's a dream come true." The Wolverines have now had an impressive 68 icers chosen in the history of the NHL Draft, which de- buted in 1969. On top of that, the Maize and Blue have seen at least one skater come off the board in ev- ery edition since 1995, and one in every draft overall with 1970-72, 1981 and 1995 being the lone exceptions. The MLB RICH HILL IMPRESSES DURING SECOND HALF OF JUNE Former Wolverine and current Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Rich Hill was activated from the dis- abled list June 19, and proceeded to have an outstanding rest of the month. He threw a combined 17 2 ⁄3 innings in three starts, allowing a total of just five earned runs, which was good for a 2.55 ERA over that span. Hill's best outing came June 19 in Chicago when he threw six scoreless frames against the Cubs, surrender- ing just three hits while striking out six. Robinson aver- aged 12.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 26.7 minutes in four contests. Derrick Walton Jr. • NBA Having paired up with former U-M teammate Robinson, Walton has also impressed in four NBA Summer League games for the Heat. The point guard tallied 11.8 points, 6.8 assists and 3.2 re- bounds per contest, while averaging a team-leading 28.7 minutes per game. Ryan LaMarre• MLB After being claimed off waivers by the White Sox, LaMarre made his Windy City debut July 13, starting in left field and batting eighth.
