men's basketball • Redshirt junior Jordan Morgan posted a career-high 13 rebounds in the win over Northwestern. Burke also posted a career high with four steals, while redshirt freshman Max Bielfeldt posted a career high with four points. • Burke tossed off a career-high 12 assists, to a Michigan lineup featuring four players — himself, Hardaway, Stauskas and freshman forward Glenn Robinson III — scoring in double figures. Robinson supplemented his first career doubledouble (20 points and 10 rebounds) with a career-high three assists. • McGary tied a career high with 11 rebounds in the win over Iowa, while setting a new career standard with three blocks and tying his career best with two assists. • Burke captured Big Ten Player of the Week honors and Robinson conference Freshman of the Week plaudits following the opening seven days of Big Ten play. Burke averaged 21.0 points and 8.5 assists in U-M's 2-0 start in the league, posting 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game and shooting 61.5 percent from the floor. He dished out 17 assists with only three turnovers. Robinson averaged 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals over the same two-game stretch. The freshman connected on 70.6 percent of his shots, including a 4-of-4 effort in his first Big Ten game ever. • Stauskas earned Freshman of the Week honors over the seven-day period just prior to the opening of the Big Ten season, and McGary the week before that, giving the Wolverines the league's top rookie award three straight weeks. Stauskas has two Freshman of the Week honors to his credit, while Burke has been conference Player of the Week twice. • On Jan. 9, Burke was named a finalist for the Cousy Collegiate Point Guard Award. Burke is one of 20 finalists for the honor, presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The list — which includes Michigan State's Keith Appling, Ohio State's Aaron Craft and Minnesota's Andre Hollins — will be pared to 10 names around Feb. 1, and five by roughly March 1. • Michigan's 62-47 win over Nebraska Jan. 9 pushed the Wolverines to 16-0, matching the best start in program history. U-M also began the Big Ten championship campaign of 1985-86 at 16-0. The win also gave Beilein the 400th of his career in Division I contests. • The Wolverines' 15-point margin of victory gave them three wins to start off the conference season by at least that wide a gap for the first time since 1987-88. • Michigan's 62 points versus the Cornhuskers marked its lowest tally of the season. The Wolverines scored 25 in the first half, also a season low. U-M did grab a season-high 47 rebounds, its 47-30 advantage on the boards marking a crucial edge in the game.
