He would tally a team-best 49 catches, and when his quarterbacks threw his way, they connected on 62.0 percent of their attempts. That figure represents the second-best rate amongst Michigan's wideouts, trailing junior Drew Dileo's 64.5-percent success rate (he caught 20 of 31 balls thrown to him). Smith was one of five Wolverines that had a perfect ratio, snagging all 10 balls thrown to him, while fifthyear senior tight end Mike Kwiatkowski (4 for 4), sophomore tailback Thomas Rawls (1 for 1), redshirt freshman fullback Joe Kerridge (1 for 1) and redshirt sophomore tight end Dylan Esterline (1 for 1) also batted 1.000. He was far more efficient than Gallon, who scored once every 19.8 targeted attempts. Junior Devin Gardner ranked second, with a TD once every 9.5 times the ball was thrown to him. Overall, U-M's tight ends were targeted just 10.4 percent of the time while Michigan's backs factored in to 9.2 percent of the passing game. ❑ Targets And Success Rate By Player And Position Player Targets Rec.
