We cannot begin to thank you enough for your loyal support. This was the third time our Annual Fund surpassed the $17 million mark — reaching $17,071,000. Unfortunately, the Annual Fund is not keeping pace with scholarship costs and we missed our target in 2018 to fund all scholarships using current revenues. This year it will be important to aggressively grow the Annual Fund to a point that we are financially sound. Throughout the year we will be sharing information about schol- arship expenses and how donor support will help us close our current gap in funding. We are grateful for all 2,300 donors who increased their contributions in 2018 by 10% and hope to continue to grow our base of support in this category this year. The fourth quarter of 2018 was extremely busy with the launch of the $180 million Athletics Master Plan. The first step in this plan has occurred with the programs previously housed in University Hall having moved into temporary space to allow for the asbestos removal and demolition. This is an exciting project for the future of Virginia Athletics and we are anxious to build the fundraising momentum to make the new facilities a reality. Below are some other 2018 fundraising highlights that we will need to build upon in 2019. • Endowment for scholarships and operational budget support — $8.7 million • Coaches 10 for sport specific operational support — $2.8 million • Master Plan — $5.6 million • Number of donors — 8,723 The above numbers and statistics track our progress and allow us to make plans to fund key areas of Virginia Athletics. As we turn the page to 2019, it is important to remember the ultimate beneficiaries of this support — our 750 student-athletes and the coaching staffs who help them excel.
