138 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING 15. DAVIN VANN, DT Cary High Vann burst onto the scene with an explosive perfor- mance at a pair of Nike Opening camps, one in Char- lotte and one in Washington, D.C. At the latter, he was timed at 4.65 seconds in the 40-yard dash while checking in at 6-2, 272 pounds. He also had a 30.7-inch vertical leap in the former. Vann has similarities to NC State sopho- more defensive tackle Alim McNeill, with both being athletic, versatile defensive play- ers in high school. As a junior, Vann recorded 79 stops, 25 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He also is a standout in wrestling, winning a 4-A state title at heavyweight, and track, finishing third in the shot put in June's New Balance National Outdoor Championships with a heave of 57 feet, 11.25 inches. Vann verbally committed to NC State in June. 16. AYDAN WHITE, CB Asheville Christ School It's hard to match White's length (6-1, 170 pounds) and athleticism (three-time state champ in the 110-meter hurdles for the independent school's 3-A level). He's also productive. As a junior, White caught 60 passes for 1,049 yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games and had 39 tackles, three intercep- tions, 12 passes broken up and a forced fumble. In a showdown with Rooks last fall, White held his own. White also performed well at the Rivals. com 3-Stripe Camp in Charlotte. He has ver- bally committed to NC State, and is listed by Rivals.com as a three-star player and the No. 26 prospect in the state. 17. MICHAEL WYMAN, WR Dudley High Wyman is a good-sized receiver at 6-4, 200 pounds. He is a long strider who can gobble up yards in a hurry, but does not create as much separation vertically as other wideouts. That said, he is a good route runner and has strong hands. He is especially adept in the red zone catching jump balls. As a junior, Wyman caught 46 passes for 664 yards and five touchdowns. He commit- ted to South Carolina in April. Rivals.com ranks him as a four-star re- cruit, the No. 9 prospect in the state, and the Les Merritt CPA-CFP NCSU Graduate Certified Public Accountant Certified Financial Planner Your CPA! les@lesmerrittcpa-cfp.com (919) 269-8553 1014 N.
