commitment profile "This was the third time I'd been up there, so I had seen everything. The last thing was to spend time with the coaches, and I got to hang Film Evaluation Strengths: Cole is very athletic for a big man. He shows very good lateral movement skills and speed when he blocks in open space. His footwork out of his stance is decent, and he shows pretty good balance on the first move. He does a good job of keeping his shoulders square when moving from the first to the second level. Cole plays with a pretty good level of hand violence. He plays aggressively and looks to punish his opponent down the field through the whistle. Areas Of Improvement: Cole shows a tendency to let his shoulders get out in front of his feet a bit on his base blocks. This can cause balance problems that good defensive linemen and linebackers will take advantage of. Cole also plays with his hips a bit high, which causes his entire body to be too high. The college level will require that he get stronger in his lower body so he can play lower and be even more effective. Michigan Player Comparison: David Baas (2001-04) was a strong player in the middle of Michigan's offensive line and also was the winner of the 2004 Rimington Award. — Analysis by former U-M All-Big Ten OL Doug Skene out with them for almost the whole weekend." Michigan has picked up a very talented offensive lineman in Cole, who was first-team all-state last fall in Class 8A — Florida's largest classification. The 6-5, 275-pounder is capable of playing on the inside or outside of the offensive line in college. Michigan likely pegs him at either guard position, with the option to play tackle as well. "The thing that jumps out is how well he moves his feet laterally, — his agility," Rivals.com Southeast recruiting analyst Kynon Codrington said. "The wingspan, the arm reach, the extension on Mason's punch is pretty impressive. He can get to the first blocker fast enough to get to second level, wall off the linebacker with that reach. He has great initial punch and excellent footwork for his size." Cole could also help Michigan land a couple of his teammates at East Lake High. The Wolverines have offered 2014 wide receiver/athlete Artavis Scott and 2015 wideout George Campbell. Cole's role as a team leader for the Eagles could convince that pair to follow in his footsteps and become a Wolverine, as well. "He takes total control of the team first of all by size, but then he loves his team and his school and his teammates," Hudson said. "He's my go-to guy if I need something done. Mason will get it done. Everyone respects him because not only because he's good but because of his attitude and how he treats other players." ❏
