  women's basketball T he Wolverines did not have to sweat out their NCAA Tournament placing for too long March 18, when they met with friends and family to watch the selection show festivities. Just minutes after the broadcast began on ESPN, Michigan's name was called as the No. 8 seed in the Spokane Regional. It ties a program record for highestever seed in the Big Dance. The Wolverines (21-10) will play No.  9 seed Villanova (21-10) in the first round March 24. Michigan head coach Kim Barnes Arico, who came to Ann Arbor after 10 seasons with St. John's, is very familiar with Villanova, a former Big East foe. Wildcats coach Harry Perretta has been with the team for 35 years, and Barnes Arico struck up a friendship with him during her time in the Big East. "He is a tremendous coach but a better person," Barnes Arico said. "I have gone to him to sit down and talk basketball. I have talked to him about his offense. I know Villanova really well.
