He's still not guaranteed to start at second base, though, and is competing with Johnny Giavotella — again — for the job. Getz, however, has caught the eye of Royals manager Ned Yost. "He made a little tweak to his swing," Yost told the Associated Press. "We talked about last spring how much stronger he got from the year before, and he came to camp even stronger than he was last spring." Getz signed a one-year deal with the club at the end of last year and hopes to solidify his job. "Certainly, you don't want to add any more pressure, but I know what's at stake. No doubt about that," Getz said. "You want to bring your game every day, but it's baseball. "It's difficult, especially in spring, because you haven't played for a while. It's a combination of shaking off the cobwebs along with com‑ peting out there. He leads Montreal with eight goals. Larry Foote • NFL The former Michigan linebacker is prepared to retire as a Pittsburgh Steeler after signing a new, three-year contract with the club. Foote, 33, notched a career-high 113 tackles in 2012 and tied his career best with four sacks. Former U-M linebacker Lamarr Woodley restructured his contract to help allow for the deal. Rich Hill • MLB The Cleveland Indians picked up the former Michigan pitcher's contract from Triple-A Columbus March 12, paving the way for Hill to start the season in the Indians' bullpen. Hill has struggled with injuries the last few years, but he's healthy and throwing well. He allowed only one unearned run and notched eight strikeouts in 5 2⁄3 innings as of March 12.
