  men's basketball Basketball Notebook • Michigan's 71-58 win over Illinois Feb. 24 gave the Wolverines five straight victories over the Fighting Illini, and pushed U-M's home record over the past two seasons to 31-1. • Freshman Caris LeVert matched a career high with a pair of three-pointers in the win over Illinois. • Michigan had won five straight games over Penn State, prior to the Nittany Lions' 84-78 stunner over the Wolverines in State College Feb. 27. Freshman wing Nik Stauskas recorded a career-high eight rebounds in the loss. • The Wolverines' 58-57 victory over Michigan State March 3 kept U-M's home record perfect at 17-0. Michigan moved to 32-1 at Crisler Center over the past two seasons. • No. 4 Michigan and No. 9 Michigan State met as a pair of top-10 teams nationally for only the second time in history. The Wolverines now hold a 4-2 advantage over the Spartans in the past three years. • Sophomore guard Trey Burke topped the 200-assist mark for the season with his eight assists against Michigan State. Burke became only the fourth Wolverine ever to dish out that many during a single season. • Redshirt junior Jordan Morgan pulled down seven rebounds in the win over Michigan State, becoming the 43rd U-M player to accumulate at least 500 points and 500 rebounds. He stood at 717 career points and 506 rebounds following the victory. • MSU shot just 35.6 percent from the field, Michigan's best defensive effort since the Wolverines limited Nebraska to 33.9 percent shooting Jan. 9. • Michigan did not make a threepointer against Michigan State, the first time the Wolverines failed to connect from beyond the three-point arc in the six years John Beilein has been in Ann Arbor. U-M went 0 of 12. • The Wolverines forced 18 turnovers against MSU, tying a season high set against Western Michigan and matched versus Eastern Michigan. Eleven of those came on steals — including a career-high five from Burke, who made two in the final minute to seal the win. • Michigan's 80-75 win at Purdue March 6 gave the Wolverines their 25th victory of the season, the most in Beilein's Michigan career, topping last year's 24 wins. It represents the second time he has guided a team to 25 wins in a season, after he took West Virginia to a 27-9 record in 2006-07. • U-M needed to scramble back from a 12-point deficit to knock off the Boilermakers, marking the biggest rally to a win for the Wolverines this season. They had come back from eight points down to win on three different occasions. • Michigan moved to 27-0 under Beilein when reaching the 80-point mark in a game. • Michigan swept Purdue in a regular season for the first time since 1993.
