50 ■ THE WOLFPACKER BASKETBALL PREVIEW 2019-20 BRAXTON BEVERLY 10 Jr. • Hazard, Ky. • 6-0 • 180 G ANALYSIS Beverly was supposed to be NC State's long-range threat last season, but after he added point guard duties when Markell Johnson went down with an injury his shooting numbers began to suffer. He ended last year with his percentages lower across the board, and in the final seven games of the year he shot just 19.0 percent (8 of 42) from three-point range. He is hoping to rebound with sharper numbers in 2019-20. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS Led NC State with 76 made three-pointers last season … Averaged a team- high 29.5 minutes per contest … Set a career high with 21 points at North Caro- lina and at home versus Syracuse … Led the team with a 2.15 assist-to-turnover ratio … Had a 3.27 assist-to-turnover ratio as a freshman, third best in a single season at NC State and best ever for a freshman in the ACC … Scored in double figures 15 times as a rookie, including a season-high 20 points in a win over then-No. 2 Arizona … Made 43.0 percent of his threes in ACC play in 2017-18, fourth best in the league in conference games … Had a double-double of 15 points and 11 assists against Jacksonville … Rated by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect … Played for former NC State assistant coach A.W. Hamilton for two seasons at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., and helped lead the prep powerhouse to a 90-3 overall record … Made 14 of 20 threes in a win over Genesis Academy while scoring a school-record 70 points … Averaged 20.1 points, 6.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game as a junior to help Hargrave win the 2016 National Prep Championship … Previously attended Perry County High in Hazard, Ky., and started playing varsity in the seventh grade … Scored 2,558 career points at Perry County, 17 shy of the school record. PERSONAL Son of Kelly and Richard Beverly … Has a sister … Birthday is Feb. 18. 136 Beverly knocked down 136 three-pointers in his first two seasons at NC State. If he were to continue on his current pace, he would end the 2019-20 season with 204 three-pointers, which would make him just the fifth Wolfpack player ever to eclipse the 200 mark. While Scott Wood's school record of 334 career three- pointers made may be tough for Beverly to reach, the current Pack guard could easily catch Engin Atsur (223) for third on the all-time list for made threes at NC State.
