122 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING Center Ebenezer Dowuona Gives NC State A Key Piece In The Middle Senior center Ebenezer Dowuona started dreaming about what it would be like to play for NC State during his official visit Sept. 13-15. The Rivals.com three-star prospect still wanted to check out South Florida and Pitts- burgh to be sure, but he knew Oct. 11 was the time to pick a college. The 6-10, 220-pounder chose NC State over Pitt, USF, Denver and San Diego State, and head coach Kevin Ke- atts and assistant coach Roy Roberson were big reasons why. "I had a good relationship with the staff, and I can develop at NC State," Dowuona said. "When I was watching practice, I thought about having a spot on the team." NC State wanted to land a center to pair with current redshirt freshman center Manny Bates for the future. "My strength is on defense — shot block- ing and getting rebounds," Dowuona said. "My offensive side, I'm trying to develop. They envision that I'll get better with my shot on offense and develop as a player." Dowuona enjoyed his other official visits, but when he sat down and thought about his future, the Wolfpack emerged as his choice. He was glad to give Keatts the news. "It just came down to NC State," Dowuona said. "The ACC is the best conference in college basketball. I will get the chance to compete against Duke and UNC, and that's just big time. "I told the coaches and they were very excited." Dowuona checks in at 6-10 and 220 pounds and is listed as the No. 27 center nationally by Rivals.com.
