or the second straight week,
Notre Dame went against the
grain.
The Oct. 17 game at home
versus Louisville was "supposed to
be" a shootout, but instead turned
into a 12-7 slugfest Fighting Irish
victory.
Then at Pittsburgh a week later, it
was "supposed to be" a defensive
tussle where Notre Dame had to
grind out a low-scoring win.
So naturally, head coach Brian
Kelly's No. 3-ranked troops (5-0)
dominated from start to finish
while handing Pitt (3-4) its fourth
straight defeat, a 45-3 slaughter.
After the close call against Louis-
ville, Kelly chided his troops about
not possessing the urgency needed
— specifically when No. 1 Clemson
rolls into town Nov. 7. And Kelly
made it evident that the Fighting
Irish are looking ahead, but in a
positive manner.
