School Commits Class Of 2021 Scholarship Offer Master List 2021 Master List Changes Prospects Removed: WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. of Baltimore (committed to Oregon). • For several months, it was rumored that Man- sfield (Texas) Legacy's David Abiara, the No. 59 player in Texas and the No. 24 strong-side defensive end in the nation per Rivals, was going to depart from Notre Dame's commitment list. However, after speaking with a source close to the situation, it ap- pears that Abiara and the Fighting Irish staff have gotten back on the same page, and he is expected to sign with Notre Dame come December. Abiara committed to the Irish in March over Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and others, but the 6-4, 245-pounder was rumored to flip to Oklahoma in May and then SMU as recently as September. • Notre Dame may be done recruiting on the offensive side of the ball in the 2021 class. Bal- timore Mount St. Joseph's Dont'e Thornton Jr., who is Rivals' No. 9 wide receiver and No. 55 overall player in the country, committed to Or- egon Oct. 20. The Irish would love to add West Bloomfield (Mich.) High's Donovan Edwards, the nation's No. 2 running back and No. 56 overall player ac- cording to Rivals, but Michigan is considered the favorite to land his pledge, while Notre Dame is likely running third or fourth in his recruitment. With the departure of running back Jahmir Smith from Notre Dame's roster, the Irish are considering offering more class of 2021 running back recruits, but it is not a guarantee that the Irish take a second running back in the class to join Metairie (La.) Rummel's Logan Diggs. • Most college football fans scoff at a recruit releasing a list of a 10-plus schools. However, what they may fail to understand is that it's often a quality-of-life move for these prospects. Take St. Louis St. Mary's class of 2022 athlete Kevin Coleman for example. Coleman, the na- tion's No. 26 overall recruit per Rivals, holds 30 scholarship offers and doesn't go a day without being contacted by a college coach. When he posted a top 13 schools list of Ala- bama, Auburn, Arizona State, Florida State, Geor- gia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Texas and USC Oct. 21, he slowed down his recruitment just a bit more. Notre Dame offered Coleman back in May, and he has already been to campus. — Mike Singer After rumors for months about a potential decommitment, look for Mansfield (Texas) Legacy's David Abiara, the No. 59 player in Texas and the No. 24 strong-side defensive end nationally per Rivals, to sign with the Irish in December. PHOTO COURTESY DAVID ABIARA VIA TWITTER Notre Dame would like to take at least one more defensive back in the 2021 class, and no target is bigger than Los Angeles Loyola's Ceyair Wright, the No. 6 cornerback and No. 95 overall player in the country per Rivals.
