Look, let's be real here, guys. When Notre Dame played Clemson in the playoff game, one injury at cornerback [Ju - lian Love] changed the tenor of that game. I would love to go see that game without that injury, right? Be- cause we know that it was only three points in the first quarter. The second half was only seven points, I believe, for Clemson. I'd love to see that sec- ond quarter differently. "I bring that up because I look at Notre Dame's depth when I started with this project five years ago, in [the playoff game], and now and they're better. They're deeper. They can with - stand injuries in certain spots and still be representative of the top teams in the country with the type of players on the field. And that's the recruiting ef - fort. Maybe it's the intentional nature of the recruiting. Maybe it's zeroing in on the right guys at the right time, how they may have shrunk the stack a little bit to go after the right guys at the right time. But I think Brian Po - lian's energy, attention to detail in that position is a big factor in helping that." — NBC play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico (The Athletic) "All three of those guys add something to this offense, and I just remember working with them a lot over the quarantine. I got confidence in all those guys to go out there and make some plays, and I think we'll see that here." — Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book on what he's seen from freshmen wide receivers Jordan Johnson, Xavier Watts and Jay Brunelle "It's definitely the connectedness and the brotherhood that we all share playing for one another, working hard every day. In and out of the weight room and going on a practice field there's that connection that builds a strong team, I believe, and I could definitely see that here at Notre Dame, as well as at Ohio State. I'm just happy to be a part of this program." — Notre Dame rover/safety Isaiah Pryor on the similarities between playing at Notre Dame and his former team Ohio State "It just made me really happy to see my teammates be that happy for me. They just support me through my ups and downs. Throughout my time here, it hasn't been a very straight path. There's been some ups and downs, but to get to the point where I have a little bit of success like that and to see them celebrating for me, it really meant the world to me." — Notre Dame linebacker Bo Bauer on his teammates celebrating after he had his first collegiate interception against Pittsburgh PHOTO BY BILL PANZICA OF THE WEEK ➤ "Notre Dame OL is ready for a battle in the trenches. #GoIrish x #OLineU." — The official account of Notre Dame Football (@NDFootball) Oct. 29.
