ND Sports game back on par." Her counterpart, Weaver, has four top‑10 finishes this spring, as well. She ended the fall season ranked as the No. 3 collegiate golfer in the country after three consecutive top-three finishes. Holt said they both play a similar, consistent style of golf that keeps them out of trouble. "They're pretty boring to watch actually," she said. "From a coaching standpoint, I love it. It's a really good feeling as a coach when you can have your freshmen just tee off and go play." Campbell and Weaver plan on pushing each other going forward. Campbell said she's looking forward to an- other step up in competition while she battles her teammates to remain among the five players who represent the team in tournament play. The competition will get stiffer outside of practice as well next season when the Irish jump to the Atlantic Coast Conference and its golf-rich history. Notre Dame is already scheduled to play in tournaments in Chapel Hill, N.C., and at Florida State next year. The jump to the ACC comes at an ideal time, Holt said, for a program that has been building steadily during the past seven seasons. The Southern-based schedule should add a little more sunshine to their schedule, too. ✦ Irish Roundup Baseball (31-23, 10-14 Big East) Notre Dame wrapped up regular-season play in late May by dropping two of three lopsided games to Cincinnati on the road. The losses knocked the Irish down to seventh place in the Big East standings, which pitted them against No. 2 Seton Hall in the opening round of the conference tournament. After a promising start to the year, Notre Dame's offense struggled to find consistency against Big East foes, finishing the regular season with 277 runs scored (the third-lowest mark in conference). The team hit for a .279 average overall, boosted by juniors Trey Mancini (.396) and Eric Jagielo (.390). Men's Lacrosse (11-5, 4-2 Big East) For the third time in the last four years, Notre Dame's season came to a close at the hands of growing rival Duke. This time, the Blue Devils bested the second-seeded Irish 12-11 in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals at Indianapolis's Lucas Oil Stadium. Notre Dame is 4-3 against Duke in the last four years, with all three losses coming in the postseason. Freshman Matt Kavanagh led the Irish offense in its two NCAA Tournament games. He scored four times in a 9-7 opening-round win over Detroit and added three goals and three assists in the loss to Duke. Women's Lacrosse (12-5, 5-3 Big East) The Irish women bowed out of the NCAA Tournament in the opening round, falling to Stanford 8-7 on May 10. Junior Linsday Powell and senior Betsy Mastropieri scored two goals each in the losing effort. Powell finished the year strong with 18 goals and nine assists, which put her fourth on the team in points scored.
