  inside michigan athletics one of the first-class facilities in the country." The Wolverine: When you look at your prior coaching experience, what will you take from that and apply to Michigan? Dowling: "I have been fortunate enough to be around some great coaches in the business. I played golf at Kent State. I learned what it takes to be successful there. I then coached there for two years, and I learned a lot about how to recruit international players from there and how to help develop kids. I also spent some time as an assistant at Duke (2008-09), and that is a dynasty. I learned what it takes to win national championships, and balance both athletics and academics while I was there. And I learned a lot as a head coach at Florida — to be in one of the best conferences in the country, that was a great experience for me." The Wolverine: How will you put your mark on this program? Dowling: "The program has been in existence for 37 years and has only gone to one NCAA Championships meet. This program is a sleeping giant. We have all the resources, all the support that we could possibly want. My role is to bring in student-athletes who are passionate about the game. My team is going to be small — six to eight players — and my goal is to work with all of them on an individual basis. In order for the team to get better, the individuals have to work on specific things in their own game." — Andy Reid Wolverines football, inspired restaurants, soul-stirring theater and more.
