commitment profile Film Evaluation Strengths: Michigan's defensive coaches place plenty of emphasis on size, and Winovich fits the bill. At 6-3, he has the height to play as an edge rusher or see over the offensive line in the running game. He has the frame to add much more weight. Winovich is a good straight-line athlete who excels at knifing into the backfield to make tackles for loss. His initial burst and tackling ability are right in line with Greg Mattison's ideal at the Sam position. Areas Of Improvement: Winovich is still thin at 218 pounds, and will have to put in hard work in the weight room to play at 235 pounds or greater. That will allow him to take on blockers and shed them in college. He also needs to improve his lateral mobility to play pass coverage. Winovich is a quick study in the film room and a hard worker in the gym. He should be able to add to his repertoire easily. Michigan Player Comparison: Roy Manning (2000-04) was a four-year letterman who contributed to special teams early in his career. He will also be Winovich's position coach, and he can impart the wisdom that the young player needs to not only meet but exceed his own production. — Analysis from TheWolverine.com
