Freshman Numbers Revealed Freshman Shane Morris will be the seventh quarterback in Michigan history to don the No. 7 jersey; U-M updated its roster in early July, including the numbers for all 27 scholarship rookies. Redshirt junior quarterback Devin Gardner had worn No. 7 his first two years, but switched to No. 12 in 2012. Former standouts Rick Leach (1975‑78), Drew Henson (1998‑2000) and Chad Henne (2004‑07) also sported the No. 7 jersey. No one will wear No. 1, which has sat vacant since receiver Braylon Edwards departed in 2004. In other jersey news, sophomore tailback Dennis Norfleet has switched from No. 26 to No. 23, redshirt freshman tailback Drake Johnson was No. 29 but will now wear No. 20, and freshman defensive back Ross Douglas, an early enrollee, has already changed from No. 7 to No. 29. In addition to playing six East Division foes — Rutgers, Penn State, Maryland, Michigan State, Ohio State and Indiana — U-M will also see West rivals Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa in 2016. The meeting with the Badgers will be the first for the Wolverines since a 48‑28 home loss to UW in 2010; Wisconsin is not on Michigan's schedule for 2014 or 2015. The Maize and Blue have played Illinois (2007-12) and Iowa (2010-12) more frequently and are set to travel to Iowa City again this season. In 2016, with the advent of nine conference contests, Michigan will have just three non-conference games, featuring Hawaii, Colorado and Ball State.
