C O M Penn State turns to transfer wideout Mitchell Tinsley to bolster its receiving corps after a key departure P enn State made one of the biggest transfer portal splashes of the offseason when it brought receiver Mitchell Tinsley aboard from Western Kentucky. Now, the Lee's Summit, Mo., native is looking to show that he's capable of thriving in the Big Ten after two strong seasons in Conference USA. Tinsley was a star for the Hilltoppers a year ago, catching 87 passes for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns. He decided to enter the portal in December to take his talents to the Power Five. With Jahan Dotson about to move on to the NFL after two All-Big Ten seasons, Penn State had a high-profile vacancy to fill, and the Lions also played a style of offense that piqued Tinsley's interest. It seemed like the perfect match. "Mike Yurcich's career speaks for it- self," Tinsley said, referring to the Nit- tany Lions' second-year offensive coor- dinator. "The type of offenses that he ran in the past [were impressive]. I felt like, with Jahan having the season he had last year, and with the pieces that were com- ing back, they have a lot of good pieces here with our wideout room and the QB room, so I felt like it was the right fit for me. "Honestly, I just feel like it was a great op- portunity. I love the pieces that were coming back, and I felt like this was the best thing for me."
