4 THE WOLVERINE DECEMBER 2022 SPARSE JUSTICE FOLLOWING SPARTAN TUNNEL ATTACKS Seems to me that U-M is being told one thing to pacify them. ... The ol' speedy justice thing and the Big Ten et al., are buying time to make it just go away. Prediction: suspensions for the rest of the season for those already suspended and maybe a letter to MSU stating the behavior was unacceptable, maybe. This is going nowhere. Obviously great sources stating that the Big Ten was supposed to come down on Nov. 14, but wait ... another delay. We've al- ready seen the punishment. Too po- liticized, probably too much money at stake for anything to happen. — ColKilgore What more should the B1G do to the offending players if they are already suspended for the rest of the year, and at least one faces criminal prosecution? Double secret suspension? Firing squad? — Goblue8238 I think you're right. [MSU head coach Mel] Tucker will not get suspended, those involved are already suspended, and the season is nearly over. I can't see them taking away scholarships, and they'll say the players who were sus- pended have already done their time. It will get swept under the dirty Sparty rug. — Dtown23 Surprised that Sparty hasn't kicked the helmet swinger off the team. I do think the Big Ten will crack down harder on him than the rest. The remainder will get 5-game suspensions or something. — The_Dude_ I feel like either the coach or the pro- gram has some accountability in this. It seems like the ol' "Loss of Institutional Control" meme is applicable when a sig- nificant portion of your team engages in an assault. — Slim Pickens The head coach has to receive a pen- alty for this, suspension of some kind. Tucker set the tone for these guys to act like that. — Dalemac With the reports from the sidelines of MSU trying to go for Blake Corum's knees, I would say coaches need to be fired. Sean Payton had to pay for the toxic culture with the New Orleans Saints ... Not that I want Mel Tucker fired. I think he's digging that team into a hole they may not get out of for a few years. — pbwolverine It's a disgusting display of a lack of guts that directly impacts the safety of kids. By not speaking, the Big Ten is speaking loudly — not a big deal to us. Every kid in the conference is less safe than they were three weeks ago. I always find it sickening when adults cower to politics and avoid doing what needs to be done for the greater good of society. We saw one of the most disgusting scenes you'll ever see in sports, includ- ing an assault on a student, and [Big Ten Commissioner Kevin] Warren doesn't have enough moral conviction to even comment on it. There's bad leadership and then there's that. — KevinWerner Let's be clear … It's going to be a stern scathing letter … bwahahahahaha. — BlueTimU December 2022 • Vol. 34, No. 6 ISSN 1048-9940 Editor John Borton TheWolverine.com Editor Chris Balas Football Recruiting Editor EJ Holland Staff Writers Clayton Sayfie, Anthony Broome Drew Hallett Managing Editor Mark Panus Contributing Editors Matt Herb Steve Downey Chris Riffer Layout And Design Jeanette Blankenship Chris Miller Contributing Photographers Lon Horwedel Per Kjeldsen Cover Photo Lon Horwedel Publisher Stu Coman Business Manager Linda Autry Circulation Manager Sarah Boone Advertising Sales Michelle DeLee-Hamilton 877-630-8768 Customer Service Cathy Jones, Laura Thornton 800-421-7751 The Wolverine is published monthly.
