APRIL 2023 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 19 I could see them cheering, but other than them — dead quiet." And the scarlet and gray, dead as Ryan Day's 365-day revenge plot. That's thanks in no small part to Edwards' 22 carries for 216 yards and two explosive TDs. Michigan's first win in Ohio Stadium since 2000 will not soon be forgotten. Asked if this represented one of Michi- gan's all-time greatest efforts in Colum- bus, Jim Harbaugh quietly noted: "Hum- bly … humbly, we'd say that. It's right up there." "Absolutely," Edwards said of the chis- eled-in-stone nature of the win. "That moment, and just beating Ohio State for the past two years is always going to be engraved in people's memories. That's what people are going to talk about." PRODUCING A PLEASANT FLASHBACK FOR MANY Somewhere, Jamie Morris smiled broadly. The former Michigan running back (1984-87) who now hosts an after- noon sports talk show, "The M Zone," on WTKA radio and is a founder of the Sta- dium & Main NIL collective, knows what it's like to run wild in Columbus. He's the only other Wolverine to put up 200 yards rushing on Ohio State's home turf. Morris did so days after his quarter- back Harbaugh made his storied guaran- tee of a win over the Buckeyes. Harbaugh and the Wolverines deliv- ered, in a 26-24 thriller before an Ohio Stadium-record crowd of 90,674 on Nov. 22, 1986. Morris rushed for 210 yards (150 of them in the second half) and 2 TDs. "I'm not going to lie — it made me smile," Morris said of Edwards' flash- back-inducing effort. "That's the way you do it. On the long run, it was a great play. He made a great cut, and got a great block in front of it. Zak Zinter cleared the lane in front of him. It was awesome. "It's surreal, to see that happen. That happened for me. A hole just happened, and the way it opened up was impressive. The funny thing is, he didn't get caught from behind — I did." Edwards totaled 216 yards rushing and scored on 75- and 85-yard touchdown bolts in Michigan's 45-23 thumping of the Buckeyes in 2022. PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL
