THE WOLVERINE 2023 FOOTBALL PREVIEW ■ 17 MICHIGAN FOOTBALL Michigan Pads All-Time Wins Lead In College Football Although the Wolverines lost college football's winning per- centage lead after the 2019 season, they still hold the record for all-time wins in the sport. Michigan added 13 victories to its total last fall during its second straight Big Ten title run and another trip to the Col- lege Football Playoff. The Wolverines were able to grab another game back over Ohio State thanks to a head-to-head victory in Columbus on Nov. 26 and two more wins on the year. The race for the best all-time win percentage remains com- petitive, and U-M improved its standing there. Michigan moved back into the third slot, raising itself one rung on the ladder and passing nonconference rival Notre Dame. The big- gest mover on the wins list was Georgia, which charged into the top 10 after a 15-0 season and national championship. — Anthony Broome Michigan Remains Second In All-Time Big Ten Standings Ohio State maintained its all-time wins and win percentage lead inside the Big Ten conference after an 8-1 mark against league foes in 2022. However, Michigan gained ground on its rival with a 9-0 record in conference play. The storied rivals have a wide gap between themselves and the rest of the conference. Maryland moved past Indiana for the 12th spot in the league, but the standings mostly stayed intact from the previous season. — Anthony Broome ALL-TIME BIG TEN STANDINGS Rk.
