SPRING 2024 3 Dear Cavalier Fans, UVA athletics enjoyed great success in 2023 and you were a big part of this! I cannot thank you enough for the support you provided. You helped more than 750 student-athletes excel in the classroom, in competition, and in the community. Thank you! Our fundraising efforts in 2023 were sup- ported by 10,370 donors who helped us raise $67 million. Though we did not reach our $21 million Annual Fund goal, we did reach a new high of $19.8 million. We also raised just over $6 million for sport enhancement funds and the Cav- alier Academic Achievement Fund, $5.5 million for new endowments, more than $28 million for the Master Plan, and $7 million for other initiatives. We had a great year, but there is still more work to be done. We have a lot to look forward to in 2024. Our winter and spring sports teams are in-season and many are ranked in the top 25. I hope you will be able to attend many of these games and support our Hoos. The Football Operations Center is scheduled to open this summer and construction of the Olympic Sports Complex is well underway with a scheduled opening in sum- mer 2025. We are excited to see our football student-athletes and staff move into the Football Operations Center. Following this move and the completion of the Olympic Sports Complex, our Olympic sports teams presently housed in the Training Grounds will move into the newly renovated McCue Center and Olympic Sports Complex. The Center for Citizen Leaders and Sports Ethics will also be housed here and will benefit all 27 of our varsity sports teams. By now you should have received the new 2024 Annual Fund materials. I hope we can count on your support again this year and that you will consider increasing your support by 10% as part of our 110% initiative or to the next giving level as part of our Take It to the Next Level initiative. Throughout 2024, you will also hear more about the Gold Sabre Society, our new major gift society. This philanthropic giving society will provide much-needed support to athletics through the Athletic Directors Excellence Fund, endowments, sport enhancement funds, and capital gifts. I feel this will be transformational and help build a community of philanthropic leaders who are passionate about UVA athletics. Please contact our staff if you have any questions about these giving opportunities. There are many ways to support UVA athletics in 2024 and our staff is happy to talk with you about all of these. Thanks in advance for your thought- ful consideration of ongoing generous support. Go Hoos, Kevin J.
