C O M ON PENN STATE'S PLANS TO RENOVATE BEAVER STADIUM … If I were looking at this strictly from a business perspective and without emotion, building new is the only way to do it right. Like it or not, Beaver Stadium is not and never has been a structure like Ohio Stadium, Notre Dame Stadium or Michigan Stadium. I'm talking nuts and bolts and quality of venue (since renovations have been com- pleted in those stadiums). While unique in its atmosphere, it's an inferior stadium from a structural standpoint. … Let's face it, when it was brought across campus 65 years ago, Beaver Stadium was never intended to be added onto like a set of stick toys mixed in with Legos over the years. — Skeller It would be very interesting to see projected revenue streams from the various amenities that they are plan- ning. I have to think the bulk of revenue is coming from corporate opportunities like naming rights and premium seating, with increased general ticket prices and seat licensing coming in after that. All the other stuff like the welcome center and new concessions will have a very extended — like forever — payback. … That stuff may be needed, but it ain't paying the bill. — PhillipintheValley Most of my life (Paterno era), Beaver Stadium was only for football, as if it was hallowed grounds. I used to think that way. While my interests are primarily sports, I see no problem in using Beaver Stadium for any kind of event. With that said, there are several sporting events that I want to see. PSU vs. Iowa, and PSU vs. Oklahoma State in wrestling, Penguins vs. Flyers, and Steelers vs. Eagles. — BlueandWhite86 I think many college stadiums struggle with the things that Beaver Stadium struggles with, but they don't have 100K people going in/out. Auburn, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Ohio State — they all have a very attractive exterior, and I really like the renditions I've seen for PSU. Auburn's statues, welcome center and facade were all extremely well done. The inside was nothing special, but the exterior really exuded some strong history and class. — psbc19 ON DREW ALLAR'S DEVELOPMENT HEADING INTO YEAR 2 AS STARTER … It annoys me that there is a portion of the fan base that has dismissed this kid (who just turned 20) after an up-and-down first season. Reading some of his quotes, you can see he does have the drive and knows how he has to improve. Also, he's just a team-first individual. Will he win the Heisman? Maybe not, but his story is far from finished, and I think he can take a leap. — CKpsu5220 I like the fact that they are working on his footwork, but I hope Andy Kotelnicki has him trying to take chances during practice with the wide receivers. Even if they are covered, let him throw it to them and see if they can come down with it. I think he's too paranoid to throw a pick. He just needs to let it hang out there. — brycePSU95 It's interesting that the pendulum is swinging back to focusing on explosive plays. Last year was all about ball and clock control. I'm happy to be getting back to what made us successful in the first place. — FannyPackHero Drew really should just embrace being a gunslinger. Be a competitor and have an edge. I think he's a great kid and a nice guy. … An edge will take Drew a long way. — Case_Psu I just think he is a good smallish-town boy who is still young. Some kids are more softspoken and nice, but I have seen those boys turn killer on the field. I see fire in him on game day. He is a big-hearted kid, and they can be great leaders. — AFRich "Swagger" is just bluster and bullsh#t. What matters is setting a pace so that others have to keep up with you. Leadership is performing under pressure, in the biggest games of the year, and dragging your team across the finish line, a la Trace McSorley. — SJLuvsLions It is hard to win with this fan base. If a player comes off as confident, then he is labeled cocky. If he is polite, then he cannot handle the spotlight. This whole thread falls under the "when does the season start" category. — Countrylion 4 A U G U S T 2 0 2 4 Fans are eager to see how junior quarterback Drew Allar adapts to the new offense being implemented by first-year coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.
