In- deed, that was probably the expectation among many Penn State watchers. Warren had been a playmaker for the better part of three seasons, and now it was time for him to take his talents to the NFL. Or so went the conventional wisdom. To those closely monitoring the Nittany Lions' comings and goings, it seemed only a matter of time until a carefully crafted statement would appear on his social media accounts expressing his gratitude to PSU for preparing him for the next stage in his career and announcing that he was moving on. But when the veteran tight end did finally issue a statement, on Dec. 22, it was to announce that he was coming back for one more season. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to play in the Peach Bowl in just a few short days with a team I love and respect," he wrote. "We've done some great things as a family, but I do believe the best is yet to come." For Warren, the best was yet to come. He set a career-high with his 127 receiving yards against Ole Miss eight days later, making the game's most spectacular play when he maneuvered through a traffic Warren enjoyed his best season in 2023, totaling 34 catches for 422 yards and 7 touch- downs. He tied fellow tight end Theo Johnson for the team lead in scoring receptions.
