Michigan also gets Abby Tamer back, who used a redshirt last season to prepare for the Paris Olympic Games. TOP THREE ATHLETES Graduate Lora Clarke: A NFHCA third-team All-American last season, her first-career accolades at the national level. She started all 17 games at forward/ midfield and posted 3 goals with a team- high 9 assists as a team captain. Redshirt junior Abby Tamer: Rep- resented Michigan at the 2024 Paris Olympics as the first field hockey Olym- pian in program history. Redshirted last season to prepare for the international event. She started all five games at for- ward and led Team USA in scoring with 2 goals in the Paris Games. Sophomore Abby Burnett: Started all 17 games at midfield as a freshman and made the All-Big Ten second team. She was also an NFHCA Collegiate Na- tional Academic Team Scholar of Dis- tinction. Don't Miss: ACC/Big Ten Challenge vs. two-time defending national cham- pion North Carolina Aug. 30 in Ann Arbor Men's Soccer First Event: Aug. 22 vs. Loyola Chi- cago in Ann Arbor Season Outlook: Head coach Chaka Daley and the Wolverines experienced a bit of a youth movement in 2023 during a 5-6-7 campaign with a 2-1-5 record in Big Ten play, good for fifth place in the conference. A semifinal run in the Big Ten Tournament hopefully sets the ta- ble for brighter days ahead. U-M started at least four freshmen in all 18 games last year, which could bode well for this season and beyond. TOP THREE ATHLETES Graduate Bryce Blevins: The team captain was one of two Wolverines to start all 18 matches, and he was second on the team with 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists) and racked up 1,440 minutes. His play last season earned him second- team All-Big Ten honors. Junior Nolan Miller: He was the other U-M player to start all 18 games and joined Blevins as a second-team All-Big Ten honoree. He led the team with 1,615 minutes played and was a key part in Michigan shutting out six op- ponents in 2023. S o p h o m o re I s a i a h G o l d s o n : Started 13 games in 14 appearances at goalie, recording 5 shutouts, 4 wins and 5 ties on the season. Goldson was third in the Big Ten with 3.34 saves per game and made the Big Ten's All-Freshman Team. Don't Miss: vs. Indiana Oct. 15 in Ann Arbor Women's Soccer First Event: Lost 2-1 to Utah Valley Aug. 15 in Ann Arbor Season Outlook: Head coach Jenni- fer Klein is entering her seventh season with the program, having led U-M to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including last season as part of a 7-7-4 campaign. U-M will have to earn its way back with ranked opponents in six of its 18 games in No. 4 Penn State, No. 6 Nebraska, No. 13 Michigan State, No. 15 Notre Dame, No. 19 Wisconsin and No. 20 Alabama. TOP THREE ATHLETES Senior Avery Kalitta: Started all 18 games at midfield last year, ranking second on the team in minutes with 1,453. Kalitta logged the full 90 minutes nine times last year and was named the team's Defensive MVP and a third-team All-Big Ten selection in 2023. Sophomore Lilley Bosley: Played in 18 matches in 2023 with 12 starts at mid- field, starting 9 of her last 10 appearances. Bosley was named Newcomer of the Year and to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team during her first season in Ann Arbor. Sophomore Gabrielle Prych: Led all U-M freshmen with 15 starts at for- ward, tying for the team lead in assists with 4 and was second on the team with 5 goals on the year. Prych's play earned her a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2023.
