6 THE WOLVERINE ❱ SEPTEMBER 2024 ❱ MICHIGAN UNVEILS BANNERS AT THE BIG HOUSE U-M is prepping for its title defense during the 2024 college football season, and there will be large, visible reminders at Michigan Stadium this fall of the standard set by last year's squad. Un- veiled in early August, a pair of banners now adorn the outside concourse of The Big House below the scoreboards in each end zone commemorating the team's Rose Bowl and College Football Playoff National Championship victories in 2023. Despite that, it is starting from scratch for head coach Sherrone Moore and company heading into his first season. "I think we always talk about the process," Moore said during a fall camp press conference. "We don't really try to talk about the prize as much. Just getting better today will lead to more success tomorrow. That's all we're concerned with. "We know what the goals are. We know what the aspirations are. I think when you're at Michi- gan, you always want to win it all, and that should be our goal every year. But we're just going to attack the process." Most pundits believe Michigan will play third-fiddle to Ohio State and Oregon in the Big Ten with much of the title talk surrounding everyone else. For senior running back Donovan Edwards, the doubts are familiar and embraced. "Haven't people been saying that for a long time about us? It doesn't bother us," Edwards said at Big Ten Football Media Days. "The only thing we care about is what's inside Schembechler Hall, the people that we see on a day-to-day basis. They're the ones who know what we go through every single day. That's the only bond that matters to us. "We don't care what naysayers say or what people write about us or what they think about us, or even if they give us credit. You can always hop on the bandwagon. But we appreciate all the support that we have, though." — Anthony Broome PHOTO COURTESY MICHIGAN ATHLETICS
