42 THE WOLVERINE ❱ SEPTEMBER 2024 BY CLAYTON SAYFIE M ichigan's 2023 class checked in 18th in the country in the On3 Industry Ranking, U- M's lowest haul since 2018 (22nd) and just the third Wolverine group under former head coach Jim Harbaugh to be slotted worse than 15th. Seven of last year's freshmen burned their redshirts, and only one — wideout Semaj Morgan — played in all 15 games. While there were some pleasant sur- prises, including Morgan's major impact, the group made a minimal impact as a whole. The class still does have a chance to break onto the scene in 2024 and be- yond, though. In addition, six players from this group have already left the program through the transfer portal. Recruiting Name Pos. Stars* BROOKS BAHR DT ★★★ The 6-foot-5, 319-pounder red- shirted and did not see game action as a freshman. KENDRICK BELL WR ★★★ Switched from quarterback to wide receiver before last season, Bell did not appear in any games as a rookie. He im- pressed during the spring game with 2 catches for 53 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown, and is competing for playing time this season. CAMERON BRANDT EDGE ★★★ Turned heads at practice and earned 14 game appearances as a freshman, reg- istering 4 tackles. He's in line to earn a spot in the two-deep of the depth chart this year. SEMAJ BRIDGEMAN LB ★★★★ The Philadelphia native didn't play last fall and transferred to Michigan State this offseason. COLE CABANA RB ★★★★ Battled injuries each of the last two offseasons but could carve out a role this fall. He appeared in one game in 2023, carrying twice for 6 yards. 2023 CLASS REVIEW TIME TO RISE UP Wolverine Sophomores Will Have Their Opportunity In 2024 Sophomore wide receiver Semaj Morgan, who switched his jersey number from 82 to 0 this year, finished with 41 touches (22 receptions, 4 carries, 12 kickoff returns and 3 punt returns) for 558 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns a year ago.
