Dionne was leading Penn State and was tied for sixth in the Big Ten with 6 points on 2 goals and 2 assists through the team's first four games. He scored the Lions' lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Pitt on Aug. 30, and he followed it up by tallying a goal and 2 assists in Penn State's 4-0 rout of St. Bonaventure on Sept. 2. Before his arrival in State College, Dionne spent two seasons with the Huskies, seeing action in 14 matches, with 13 shots and a pair of assists. Sophia Gladieux — Field Hockey Through Penn State's first four games, Gladieux ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring with 12 points on 6 goals. A super senior forward from Boy- ertown, Pa., she has been filling up the stat sheet throughout her tenure with the Nittany Lions. Glad- ieux competed at the Paris Olympics this past summer as part of the U.S. field hockey team, and since then she has picked up where she left off at Penn State. She scored 3 goals against Delaware on Sept. 8 to lift the Lions to a 5-4 win. It was Penn State's first victory of the season, and Gladieux had the decisive goal, scoring with 2:25 left to complete a fourth-quarter comeback. Amanda Poorbaugh — Women's Soccer A redshirt junior from Westerville, Ohio, Poorbaugh has succeeded Portland Thorns FC draftee Katherine Asman as Penn State's starting goalkeeper after play- ing in three games during her first three years on campus. Through Penn State's first seven games this year, she had allowed only 4 goals in 553 minutes. Poorbaugh's goals-against average of 0.65 was fourth in the Big Ten among goalkeepers with at least 500 minutes. She recorded three shutouts during the Nit- tany Lions' nonconference season, including two in a row against Princeton (a 1-0 win on Sept. 5) and No. 23 Georgetown (a 0-0 tie on Sept. 8). Taylor Trammell — Women's Volleyball Returning to her hometown of Lexington, Ky., Trammel was dominant for Penn State in a first-place performance at the Ken- tucky Invitational Sept. 6-7. The super senior middle blocker hit .435 with 12 kills and 5 blocks in the open- ing round against ninth-ranked Kentucky, helping the Nittany Lions rally for a 3-2 win after dropping the first two sets. She followed that performance by hitting .917 with 11 kills and no errors in a sweep of Ball State that gave Penn State the championship. Afterward, Trammell was named tournament MVP. — Matt Herb PENN STATE'S TOP PERFORMERS PENN STATE'S TOP PERFORMERS
