The PSU athletics department an- nounced a $25 million gift on Aug. 14 from the Misitano family and PAM Health toward the $700 million project aimed at modernizing and improving the 106,572-seat venue. In addition, the university revealed two more $10 million "Founders Gifts" in the days that followed — the first on Aug. 21, the second on Aug. 27 — from donors who wished to remain anony- mous. Founders Gifts are donations of eight figures or more and are seen by the university as playing "a vital role in allowing Penn State Athletics to ex- ecute a renovation plan that will not only preserve the rich history of Beaver Stadium, but also modernize the facility while making it a year-round venue." On Sept. 5, Penn State announced an additional gift of $10 million from trustee emeritus Ira Lubert and his wife, Pam Estadt, to fund a welcome center that will serve as an entrance for fans on football game days and also as a gather- ing spot for prospective undergradu- ate students and their families to begin campus tours. "Ira and Pam understand that the Penn State journey begins the moment that a student visits our campus for the first time, and that Beaver Stadium represents the strength and scale of the university they are joining," PSU presi- dent Neeli Bendapudi said in a prepared statement. The facility will be named the Lubert Family Welcome Center.
