20 DECEMBER 2025 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED Feature Performer: Redshirt senior James Rendell punted twice in the third quarter as Notre Dame's offense lost momentum. Rendell punted fewer than twice in four games this season. Neither of his punts of 47 and 46 yards in the quarter were returned by Stanford. Stats: The two teams combined for just 12 rushing yards in the third quarter (Notre Dame 7, Stanford 5) … Stanford was 1 of 6 on third downs but 2 of 2 on fourth downs in the quarter. Items: Love returned to play in the third quarter, but he couldn't find much running room. He rushed 4 times for 7 yards and caught a 6-yard pass … Em- met Kenney made his second field goal of the game for Stanford — this time from 44 yards out. FOURTH QUARTER NOTRE DAME 49, STANFORD 20 Top Moment: Aneyas Williams ripped off a 51-yard touchdown run for his second score of the game. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Cam Williams laid a big downfield block, and Williams ran through a tackle attempt by corner- back Brandon Nicholson before coast- ing to the end zone. Feature Performer: Redshirt soph- omore quarterback Kenny Minchey was given some opportunities to throw for Notre Dame in the fourth quarter. He finished 5-of-8 passing for 48 yards. Minchey also scrambled for a 15-yard gain on third-and-7. Unfortunately, the game ended after Minchey couldn't handle a high snap and Notre Dame re- covered it for a loss of 9 yards. Stats: Stanford outgained Notre Dame 161-116 in the fourth quarter … The Cardinal accumulated 116 of its 226 passing yards in the game in the final quarter. Items: Stanford scored both of its touchdowns in the fourth quarter … Se- nior quarterback Charlie Mirer made his Stanford playing debut late in the fourth quarter. His father is former Notre Dame quarterback Rick Mirer (1989-92). The younger Mirer threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Marcus Brown. ✦ Junior safety Luke Talich caught an 84-yard touch- down pass from redshirt junior defensive end Joshua Burnham off a perfectly executed fake punt to stake the Irish to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.
