A P R I L 2 0 2 6 9 out of Orangeville, Ill., in 2022. The Nittany Lions had not yet qualified for the NCAA Tournament to that point in program history, but with the standout forward supercharging their offense, they soon would. The Lions made the next four national tournaments, while Janecke took over as the program's all-time points leader. Just weeks removed from an appearance at the Winter Olympics, where she helped Team USA win the gold medal, Janecke played a key role in the Nittany Lions' win over sixth-ranked UConn. Huskies goalie Tia Chan left the net to clear a puck with just over six minutes remaining in the third period, but she whiffed on the pass and Janecke picked it off, swooping in for a goal and a 2-0 lead. After the game, the veteran forward reflected on Penn State's progress during her time in Happy Valley. "It's just a testament to this place and this program," she told report- ers. "When we came in, we were unranked. To be able to get this team to the Frozen Four is super special." — Matt Herb PHOTO BY MARK SELDERS/PENN STATE ATHLETICS
