This visit was his first opportunity to spend the day with new receivers coach Kashif Moore. Taylor totaled 571 yards receiving and scored 16 touchdowns during his junior season at Pine-Richland. LB Brandon Lockley Jr. Hometown: Philadelphia Visit Date: March 28 Ranking: No. 160 (Nat.), No. 16 (Pos.), No. 6 (Pa.) Back in September, all signs pointed to Penn State as the team to beat for Lock- ley. Now, the four-star prospect has of- ficial visits lined up with Alabama and Oregon, so the competition has heated up significantly. Lockley has been speak- ing regularly with PSU linebackers coach Tyson Veidt, so their relationship is grow- ing. Nevertheless, this recruitment has slipped a bit over the past few months, making Lockley's upcoming visit pivotal if the Lions are going to earn an OV. As a junior, Lockley led St. Joseph's Prep with 64 tackles, including 9 for loss and 2 sacks. QB Will Mencl Hometown: Chandler, Ariz. Visit Date: April 2 Rankings: No. 4 (Nat.), No. 1 (Pos.), No. 1 (Ariz.) Penn State is one of four schools that Mencl plans on visiting this spring, the others being Auburn (March 24), Mi- ami (April 4) and Oregon (April 16). He's looking to commit in April or May, so this could very well end up being the final visit he takes. Quarterbacks coach Jake Waters has a longstanding relation- ship with Mencl's coach at Chandler High, Ty Wisdom, but most believe the Ducks are the team to beat. A five-star prospect according to Ri- vals, Mencl threw for 3,815 yards and 33 touchdowns with just 5 interceptions last season. RB Tre Segarra Hometown: Duncan, S.C. Visit Date: April 4 Rankings: No. 126 (Nat.), No. 7 (Pos.), No. 2 (S.C.) Running backs coach Savon Huggins started recruiting Segarra before his sophomore season, when Huggins was still at Boston College. The two have "jelled well" over the years, Segarra's father said, and that relationship has put Penn State in a better position than some might think considering the other schools he's visited. An overnight trip to State College in early April could set Penn State up for an official visit in the summer. The con- sensus four-star prospect has already visited Clemson, Notre Dame and South Carolina this spring and has additional trips set up for Tennessee (March 28), Miami (April 10) and Michigan (April 18). After missing most of his sophomore season with an injury, Segarra totaled 1,460 yards and 17 touchdowns during his junior campaign. DE Mekai Brown Hometown: Greenwich, Conn. Visit Date: April 4 Rankings: No. 27 (Nat.), No. 4 (Pos.), No. 1 (Conn.) Brown has become one of the most sought-after edge rushers in the coun- try and could end up being a five-star prospect if he stays this high in the rankings. He's a consensus four-star for now, and he's also a player who had shown a strong interest in Penn State when Franklin was in charge of the pro- gram. The coaching change allowed some other schools to catch up, but it still appears likely the Nittany Lions will be real contenders in his recruitment. Brown has already taken visits to Florida, North Carolina and USC this spring and has additional trips com- ing to Ole Miss (March 19), Texas A&M (March 27), South Carolina (April 8) and Notre Dame (April 24). DL David Folorunsho Hometown: Chicago Visit Date: April 11 Rankings: No. 13 (Nat.), No. 2 (Pos.), No. 1 (Ill.) Iowa State was the first school to ex- tend an offer to Folorunsho, and that Chicago defensive lineman David Folorunsho was being recruited by Iowa State and is now giving the Nittany Lions strong consideration following Matt Campbell's move to PSU.
