Folston signed National Letters of Intent with Notre Dame, they joined a crowded backfield that already had three junior ball carriers. The duo has not received much playing time. Bryant had three carries for 14 yards while mostly sitting during the opening month. Kelly announced Oct. 3 that the freshman likely would be sidelined the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Folston has seen the field more frequently. A 36-yard rush against Oklahoma highlighted his 11 carries for 69 yards in the first half of the season, although he did suffer a slight injury on the long run. Folston said he is keeping everything in perspective during his freshman campaign while being considered "an SEC back." "SEC is just a name," Folston said. "ACC is just a name. I wanted to go to a school that can benefit me as a young man growing up and as a football player, and I feel like I made the right choice. "It's not about coming in right away and playing. Every freshman wants to do that. You have to come in and prepare yourself for the college football life. It's a whole different lifestyle; it's a whole different way of going about the game of football. It's a lot of stuff you have to learn." Folston rejects the notion that talented freshmen should consider transferring if their playing time is minimal. "One thing that I've always kept in mind coming out of high school is [recruiting] stars really don't mean anything to me," Folston said. "It's about how I perform and how I project myself as a person. "Everything's been good, the transition has been going well, and I've become part of this family." ✦
